Meet The Team

Deena Brock – Provincial Co-ordinator

Every team needs a leader and Deena believes in creating a trusting, inclusive environment that is required to unlock the full power of all the people in the organization. Deena has an extensive background in senior management, administration and project management in not for profit organizations that is further backed up with extensive work experience in federal, provincial and municipal government.

Amrita Chavan – Communications Specialist

Amrita Chavan is a communications strategist, advocate, and public educator with extensive experience in content development, policy analysis and advocacy around gender equality, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, and human rights.

Dr. Amber Merucci – Project Specialist, WAGE Centering the Rights of Women from the Margins.

Amber is a Project Specialist for the GBV Human Rights project, and brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and skills in the violence against women (VAW) field. She has recently completed her PhD in Education.

Dr. Sally Ogoe – Project Specialist, WAGE Transforming Together Project

Sally is a Project Specialist for the WAGE Transforming Together project. Her areas of interest include gender based research with focus on women and children, racism and human rights issues, as well as policy development. She has recently completed her PhD in Sociology.

Sue Muvingi – HIFIS Database Coordinator

Sue’s role as HIFIS Database Coordinator is to facilitate the set up of HIFIS in all ten provincial family violence emergency shelters. She will develop and deliver HIFIS database training to onboard all shelter staff and assist with troubleshooting.

Anthony Leong – Shelter Support Foundations Training (SSFT) Coordinator

Anthony will be responsible for the coordination of the new micro-credential training that was funded by the provincial government to help address the lack of shelter (homeless & family violence) staff across the province. He is passionate about advocating for social justice and equity. He holds a MSc in Bioscience, Technology, and Public Policy.

Kevin Kowal – Technical Support
Kevin is responsible for the maintenance of the MAWS website, as well as the development of the technological aspects of MAWS projects and initiatives.
