Training staff is a necessary requirement for shelters and agencies working in the field of family violence. In an effort to help family violence agencies train new staff a Learning Portal needed to be created. In this type of work there can be frequent staff turnover, it’s a busy, demanding and sometimes heart breaking job.
MAWS received grants from Winnipeg Foundation and Thomas Sill Foundation to help offset the costs of developing training. Two training development specialists Deb Chaboyer and Corrie Monk are developing online training modules to allow engagement with shelters and agencies staff from anywhere in the province. Once this is completed the modules will be available to all MAWS members through a password protected webpage.
