Lori Colquhoun, Program Lawyer with the Victims of Intimate Partner Violence Project, Community Legal Education Association, hails from the Interlake and has lived most of her life in Manitoba. Having worked in the private and public sectors, Lori maintained a high volume litigation practise for 28 years before joining the Community Legal Education Association in 2022 for the development and implementation of the federally funded Victims of Intimate Partner Violence Project.

Having started out as an articling student providing representation to shelter clients, Lori has continued to act on behalf of victims and survivors since her call to the bar. In her current role, Lori offers legal guidance to those impacted by relationship, domestic and gender based abuse while partnering with service providers and other experts to create relevant educational opportunities for professionals, students and community members throughout the province.

Stephanie Yamniuk, MA, PhD (ABD) has a rich and diverse background in international development, spanning more than 20 years. She has contributed significantly through roles at UNICEF Canada, and the Canadian Red Cross, notably working in Ukraine. Currently, she serves as a regional manager at ADRA Canada. Stephanie also shares her knowledge at the post-secondary level, and has taught in the Faculties of Education and family social sciences on family resilience and child development. She has developed and taught a certificate program on Community Capacity Building, and is currently working on her Project Management Certification.

Her academic contributions extend to authoring research articles and a book chapter focusing on human rights and education. Stephanie’s interests are broad and include human rights education, community development, refugee family dynamics, and the relationship between families and schools. Her work underscores a commitment to fostering understanding and support within communities, particularly in contexts involving families and social justice.
